Named after the girl I made it for (isn't she lucky?) This was my second beaded bra - and began as a match for the belt my model's wearing (you can see it better in some of my other shots - here, for instance), but it mutated into something more original. Or I just forgot I was working to match the belt. It's probably my favourite bra so far - and has a lovely crossover back, which is extra supportive for the exuberant bellydancer.
Whoaness, talk about intricate! That must've taken for-bloody-ever. If it had more coins on it I'd be dying for it. (Big tribal bellydance fan here. ) You've got some talent with the itty bitty beads, that's for sure!
I dislike tribal style - I've found it to be not so much bellydance as a new form of Western fusion dance that is firmly grounded in a cross-cultural view of bellydance.
I also think that whilst the costumes can look magnificent, someone of my stature (5"1 and chubby) looks utterly ridiculous in the ornate, chunky-beaded costumes favoured by tribal dancers - kind of like a stunted christmas tree gone psycho. Hence why I favour beads.
That said, I'd really love to try my hand at some coined gawazee or beledi-style costumes at some point in the future.
I did both tribal style (ATS) as well as the cabaret style for a while there. Though I had to drop the tribal because of uni I would have liked to keep doing both because they seem somewhat similar yet are completely differe. It was a nice contrast. And I must say that your work with the bellydance bras is excellent. My attempts to make my own look quite dodgy compared to yours lol. Great work!
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
