So I have this dream

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 3, 2007, 6:07 PM
that one day an anthro artist will be so inspired by my description of myself as a bellydancing hippo, that they'll draw me as one. Or even just draw me one.

BUT

Like that's ever going to happen.

Meanwhile, my own traditional art skills are limping along in the background - I've been forced to begin reviving them lately, since picking up calligraphy and illumination for my Medieval group, but it's not proving to be all that easy. Lack of practice, motivation, and all that stuff.
Maybe one day I'll be good enough to try my own hand at it.

But can you imagine trying to explain to other adults* exactly WHY I'm attempting to improve my traditional skills again?

*nope, don't really mix in furry circles, some of the people in them freak me out a lil to be quite honest - the bellydancing hippo is a METAPHOR not my "spiritual self" or whatever**

**I get my rocks off by dressing up medieval, not in fur ;)

Ahhhhhh!

*happy dances*
I have a new camera! It has manual focus! And 12x optical zoom! My old one had 3x! And no manual settings, so depth of field was almost non-existent!

My wonderful, wonderful boyfriend and his wonderful, wonderful friend arranged it - the friend sold his camera VERY chea to my boyfriend, since he has a new one.

I am so INCREDIBLY pleased - my old camera is VERY out of date, and very run down. LOTS of new photos - soon!

What I Am Doing Now

Journal Entry: Sun Feb 18, 2007, 11:27 PM
I have just come back from a stint in London.
It was cold and dark and smelly and small and historical and picturesque and so strange, like a place I ought to know but didn't, in my bones, where it counts.
It was inspirational - I took many photographs, bought many books.
I am working on some historical costumes now - a fourteenth century french kirtle, and a sixteenth century Ottoman townswoman's entire outfit. I am hoping to make shoes and a hat, even.

I committed my first t-shirt surgery yesterday. It is relatively uninspired, but I will do more and post them later. I have made some bottlecap pincushions. I am hoping to get some jewellery and fabric beadwork done sometime in the next week, and some painting. I will definitely be taking some more photographs.

I don't know when I'll finally manage to get through everyone who left their kind comments on Lotus Blossom and the rest of my gallery, so I just wanted to posta huge THANKYOU! note in the meantime.
I logged in and my jaw hit the floor at the number of comments I had! It's been a while since I last made a beaded bra, but I'm feeling very encouraged and terribly inspired now, and am plotting bags and beaded cuffs on lots of other pieces of clothing.

I guess I should really note that these days I'm posting my photos over at Flickr.com.
Why?
Because it's easier and quicker to navigate and upload stuff there than the clunkiness that is DA, and I guess I always just felt this is really a place that gave more support to artists, as opposed to say, photographers.

I'm also planning to overhaul my website, as I'm hoping (again) to maybe get some freelance work in a creative field.

I don't intend to leave this account inactive - but I do make traditional artforms far less than I take photographs, so updates will be further apart and in-between.
In the meantime, please feel free to pop over and see my stuff at my account on flickr.
